Sachem Arrows Marching Band Places First in Championship
On Sunday October 26, the Sachem Arrows Marching Band finished first-place in the “Large School 3 Competitive Class” at the 2008 New York State Field Band Conference Championship. The show entitled “Quidam from Cirque de Soleil” featured the selections “Atmadja”, Ninkov Latova”, “Quidam” and “Incantation.”
The show, which includes a precisely executed drills and exciting music, brought the huge audience at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse to its feet. The Arrows received a score of 85.0, which is nearly three points ahead of the second-place group. The Arrows posted high scores all season long, placing first in all eight regular season competitions.
The Sachem Arrows Marching Band is conducted on the field by student Drum Majors Tom Carroll and Nicole Papadatos. Members of the professional staff include George Macchio, Director; Michael Carroll, Assistant Director; Jason Macy, Coordinator; Jen Fischer, Colorguard Instructor; Michael Macchio, Drum Line Instructor; Tynan Fitzpatrick, Pit Instructor; Gene Bennett, Visual Designer; Robb Normandeau and Kelly Demato, Assistant Colorguard Instructors.
