Long Island Dentists Raise Money for Local Food Pantries
Local food pantries have been devastated by the economic downturn. As the economy slows more and more people turn to the pantries for help while at the same time food donations to he pantries are down.
A local Periodontist has decided to help. Dr. David Scharf a Periodontist in Babylon NY has organized a continuing education event whose proceeds with benefit local food pantries. On November 12, 2008 Dr. Scharf will be giving a lecture on managing medical emergencies in the dental office to dentists and their staffs. In addition to being a Board Certified Periodontist, Dr. Scharf is also a New York State Certified Emergency Medical Technician and a volunteer firefighter. Dr. Scharf lectures locally, nationally and internationally and has waived his honorarium for the event. The Sheraton Smithtown has provided a facility at a very reasonable cost.
Almost 100 dental professionals will be attending this event which is projected to raise well over $500 for local food pantries.
