Sachem’s Tamarac Elementary School Presidential Election
As the new President-elect makes history, the Sachem School District encourages its students to learn the history behind it all.
On November 3, fifth-grade students at Sachem’s Tamarac Elementary School hosted a school-wide presidential election. The fifth-grade wing was transformed into a learning area including an election voting timeline, election vocabulary, definition of the Preamble, Bill of Rights, branches of government and what democracy means to Tamarac’s fifth graders.
Fifth-grade classes presented the material while the rest of the school walked through the hallways to learn about this historical event. All students benefited by learning about their constitutional right to vote and their responsibilities as American citizens.
