Fair Media Council Issues Folio Awards Call for Entries
New Categories & Community Leaders Serve As Judges
Bethpage, NY – The Fair Media Council Folio Awards Call for Entries is now available and downloadable at www.fairmediacouncil.org.
New this year: The award categories have been expanded to encourage media coverage of issues vital to the health and well-being of Long Island. Categories range from classic news categories of breaking news and feature stories to stories specific to local concerns such as brain drain and affordable housing.
Any news organization or freelancer that have covered a Long Island news story is eligible to enter the Folio Awards. Entries are due Jan. 16, 2009 by 5 p.m.
FMC’s Folio Awards will be a special 30th anniversary celebration held on May 1, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Crest Hollow Country Club, Woodbury, NY. Keynoting will be WNET/WLIW Public Television’s William F. Baker, and cohosting is WPIX anchor team Kaity Tong and Jim Watkins. A special invocation by “The God Squad” will also be featured, and Nassau Community College President Sean A. Fanelli, Ph.D. will be honored.
