East End Arts Council Expects Big Turn Out for Members’ Art Show
 
Riverhead, NY – This year the theme is Idioms. The EEAC asked members to pick any idiom and depict it literally or otherwise in a work of art. Some members thought that would be a piece of cake; others had to rack their brains until the perfect idiom came to mind. Is the EEAC in over its head? The public can sidle on over to the opening of Idioms on Friday, January 16 from 5-7 PM and give the show the once over to decide. Art enthusiasts can feast their eyes on the idiomatic art; laughing their heads off at some entries or perhaps running into others they can’t make heads or tails of. Maybe they’ll come to rub elbows and chew the fat with other East End art lovers—in any case, we do hope they’ll drop in. Maybe they’ll find a painting, photo, poem or sculpture and fall head over heels. The public is also invited to put its two cents in by casting a vote for Best in Show (opening night and for the first 2 weeks the show is up). The EEAC’s lips will be sealed until February 3rd when it announces the artist with the lion’s share of votes.  The EEAC expects the winner to be bowled over when it forks over a check for $50 and a free entry pass for each juried EEAC show in 2009.
