Suffolk County Students Connecting with their Communities…Through the Arts

Smithtown Township Arts Council presents Youth Art Showcase and Destination Downtown poster contest beginning February 14. The exhibit, which continues through March 14 at the Mills Pond House Gallery, displays artwork and posters created by students from Suffolk County School Districts whose work highlights the community-building capacity of the arts!

Public audiences are invited to attend an opening reception Saturday, February 14 from 2-4 pm to view the artwork and meet the exhibiting artists.  Admission to the gallery is free.  Regular Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 10 am-5pm, and Saturday-Sunday, 12 pm-4pm.
For more information, please call 631-862-6575 or visit www.stacarts.org.

Local business communities provide common ground for teachers, parents, students and business owners to build personal relationships that can elevate student achievement and increase civic participation.

Youth Art Showcase highlights the creativity of students in Suffolk County. Students are invited to display work in any media. The resulting exhibit always offers an eclectic glimpse into the lives our young community members!

In Destination Downtown, Smithtown Township Arts Council challenges students to take an active role in their business communities by using their creative talents to design a poster about their favorite business. Students are invited to choose any business in the Long Island community to highlight the quality of goods and services they appreciate.

STAC’s Annual Youth Art Showcase is funded in part by Suffolk County under the auspices of the Office of Film and Cultural Affairs, Steve Levy, County Executive, Town of Smithtown and Suffolk County Legislator Lynne C. Nowick

Smithtown Township Arts Council is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
