“Special Delivery” for Valentine Messages at The Heart of Barbershop Quartet Program

(Westbury, N.Y.) When barbershop quartets from the Mid-Island Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society fan out into communities of Nassau County and Western Suffolk on February 13 and 14 to sing to surprised listeners, they will be putting their personal “stamp” on messages of affection creatively different than the billion-plus cards and letters expected to mark the occasion. In an annual “Singing Valentines” program guaranteed to bring laughter, blushes, applause and teary thank you’s from recipients, quartets will sing two songs from their respective hearts, and even more importantly, on behalf of the romantic hearts of those who know the power of a love song at this special time.  
 
The personally delivered “singing Valentine” performed in perfect harmony by a talented foursome dressed in tuxedos and bright red bowties, is offered along with a silk rose as well as the sender’s special message, all pre-arranged. Cost is $50 per presentation with a barbershop quartet arriving unannounced at pre-determined locations — a restaurant, an office, a home or a classroom — to express any sender’s love. Requests for the “Hear and Now” Valentines — an annual fund-raiser by the non-profit chapter — are currently being accepted for Feb. 13 and 14 (Valentine’s Day) between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on a schedule-available basis.
