Dowling College Professor Judges the Theatre in Our Schools Month Essay Contest
OAKDALE, NY – Dowling College Professor, Dr. Kimberly Poppiti, Assistant Professor of Dramatic Arts and Dance, will be judging the Theatre in Our Schools Month Essay Contest. The American Alliance for Theatre and Education’s Theatre in Our Schools campaign is designed to help promote theatre for youth at all levels across America. It takes place each year during the month of March and is a chance to celebrate and promote the art of theatre and to remind us that theatre is essential in people’s lives. Through this contest, theatre educators and students are encouraged to discuss and write about the positive influences theatre has had on their lives and educations. The 2009 theme, “Connecting the Future,” will allow educators and students to discuss how theatre can impact their school or community in the future.
