Family Arts Day at Mills Pond House
Family Arts Day at Mills Pond House
(Smithtown, N.Y.) The Smithtown Township Arts Council is pleased to be sponsoring a special program of music and art especially for families with young children, Saturday March 21, at 10 am and at 12:30 pm. The program will feature The Pied Piper, The Unhappy Aardvark, and The Whistler and His Day. Young children will thrill to the sounds of familiar songs and learn that many were actually composed hundreds of years ago! Have fun learning how stories can be told through music. Children will create arts projects to use during the performance.
After creating Pied Piper and Aardvark puppets and masks, families will hear the classic legend The Pied Piper of Hamelin come to life as the musicians of the Millwood Woodwind Quintet use their instruments to “tell” the famous story.
Join us in tapping rhythms, booing the Wicked Mayor, cheering the Piper and squeaking with the Rats. As the story progresses, we are reminded of the importance of keeping promises (this version has a happy ending!)
Admission is $8 per person, which includes the musical performance and arts project. Reserve with payment in advance as seating is limited. Register by downloading registration coupon from www.stacarts.org, and mailing with your check payable to STAC. Call (631) 862-6575 for more information.
