East End Arts Council MARK Artists Talks

(Riverhead, NY) - The public is invited to join the EEAC on Tuesday, April 14 from 7-9 pm for an opportunity to meet the Spring 2009 NYFA MARK artists and hear them speak about their work.

NYFA MARK is the New York Foundation for the Arts’ statewide six-month program for select visual artists (including painting, photography, mixed media, tapestry, sculpture) to take part in a unique opportunity for individualized focus on the professional side of their creative practice. MARK gives committed artists the tools for strategizing on expanding their visibility and the opportunity for support in defining their career.  The following artists were selected through an intense application process to represent the Long Island region: Liz Malunowicz, JoAnne Dumas, Margery Gosnell-Qua, Anne Raymond, Meryl Spiegel, Pamela Topham, Jennifer Gioe Peper, Rosamaria Eisler, Robert Carioscia, Pat Patterson Hauck, Douglas Reina and Beth Giacummo. All participating artists will be giving a five-minute presentation on their work.

MARK monthly seminars covered such topics as using the internet effectively, strengthening grant applications or project proposals, improving writing and speaking about your work and cultivating an audience or identifying exhibition opportunities. Participating artists can expect MARK to spark goals and help define concrete steps while providing individual and group feedback.  Between seminars, artists will complete monthly assignments which will include email interaction with other statewide MARK artists.  MARK is designed to address the concerns of artists living outside of New York City while providing them with a new network statewide.

The talks are free and open to the public. For directions please visit http://www.eastendarts.org.
For more information, visit nyfa.org/mark or contact Christa Blatchford at cblatchford@nyfa.org or 212 366 6900 x 338.
