New York Basement Art-Pop
-Local “Hungry” artists surviving the economy and proving to not be “Starving”.
(Long Island, N.Y.) Local artist Adam Baranello has been making lo-fi indie electro/pop music in his underground apartment and hand made t shirts. He began promoting on the internet and immediately sparking international interest, started shipping thousands of units to 25 countries to date.
Because of this growing popularity on the internet, Adam has been booking gigs all over the US playing private parties, concerts, festivals and fashion shows.
Adam created AJB Productions in 2005 and in 4 years has become a self sustained artist. As well as traveling, he also participates in an array of NY and tri-state area events including charities and fund raisers. He also donates some of his T shirt designs to charities.
In December 2008, AJB Productions took on 2 more music acts. NY’s rock band Black Sky Caravan and drummer Matt Baranello. Now that AJB has expanded, they plan to focus on a cross genre showcase to be held in NYC this fall.
When Adam is not engrossed in his music and fashion, he is teaching dance lessons to children and adults with the co-owner of his dance company, Gail Benevente.
Adam and Gail founded A&G Dance Company after meeting in SUNY Stony Brook’s dance program. Together, A&G Dance Company and AJB Productions equal a triangle of artistic expression: Music, Movement and Fashion. A&G are currently traveling to Miami and Chicago, but are going to be holding dance camps on Long Island this summer.
AJB productions stands for creativity, and believing in one’s self. Adam has proven that with a dream, a lot of dedication and persistence, you can be an independent artist and actually pay your bills living in one of the most expensive areas in the country.
AJB Productions current project is Adam’s sophomore album “A Simple Form of Expression” and is due out this spring.
