Men/Women return home after road trips
(Plainview, N.Y.) – Currently riding two-game winning streaks, the Long Island Rough Riders men’s and women’s teams return home this Saturday, May 30th, for their third doubleheader of the season at Cy Donnelly Stadium located at St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington.
The first-place Rough Riders women (2-1-1) will host the Washington Freedom (1-0-0) at 5PM. Coming off road wins over Western Massachusetts and Connecticut last weekend, the women, led by Brooke DeRosa and Kerri McCabe, will look to build upon their successful road trip. Goalkeeper Kim Yacenda, a member of last week’s W-League Team of the Week, has kept opponents out of her net, only allowing two goals through the teams’ first four games.
In the nightcap, the Rough RIders men (3-1-1) take on the Rhode Island Stingrays (1-2-1) at 7:30PM. The men defeated Newark on Wednesday night 2-0 for the second time in as many weeks with goals from Tadeu Terra and Adam Himeno. The win vaulted the Rough Riders into first-place in the Northeast Division ahead of local rivals, the Brooklyn Knights.
Saturday’s doubleheader will be also “Oceanside United Soccer Club Night” and feature members of the club’s youth teams participating as dream teams, ball kids, and playing in half time mini games throughout the evening.
