Shopper’s Village Celebrates Grand Opening
(West Hempstead, N.Y.) Shopper’s Village, the once wildly popular vendors market in West Hempstead, has returned to the Long Island landscape with an official grand opening weekend scheduled for Friday, June 26th through Sunday, June 28th to the delight of thousands of loyal customers. The doors will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Joining in the Shopper’s Village grand opening celebration will be local sports legends John Schmitt and Bob Nystrom. Hometown hero John Schmitt, who played ten seasons for the NY Jets, including on the winning Super Bowl III team, will make a special appearance on Friday, June 26th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Hockey great and NY Islanders fan favorite Bob Nystrom, who wears four Stanley Cup rings, will be on hand for fans to meet on Saturday, June 27th from 1:00 p.m to 3:00 p.m.
As part of the grand opening celebration, Island Harvest, Long Island’s largest hunger relief organization, will be holding a food drive at Shopper’s Village. Shoppers are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. or they can help fight hunger by donating funds online at the Island Harvest booth. Customers will enjoy a slew of additional activities including a ribbon cutting ceremony set for Saturday, June 27th at 10 a.m., free ZUMBA lessons on Saturday, June 27th from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m at the newly opened 180-seat food court and the “Wheel of Prizes” for hundreds of customers to walk away with fun filled gifts.
Shoppers are rediscovering many of their old favorite vendors and discovering many new ones, offering an extensive selection of fashion merchandise, home goods, collectibles, over 30 jewelry shops and giftware. The return of the shopping mecca brought over 3,300 Shopper’s Village enthusiasts together on a Facebook fan page full of reminiscences and testimonials, where membership is steadily climbing as the news spreads. Fans are swapping stories about great bargains and favorite vendors that filled the floors of Shopper’s Village and are doing so once again.
