Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey®…and “The Great American Showman” Coming to Stony Brook Village
(Stony Brook, NY) – The Ward Melville Heritage Organization will once again host a phenomenal summer exhibit, “Celebrating P. T. Barnum…the Man,” in anticipation of his 200th birthday, at their Educational & Cultural Center in Stony Brook Village.
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Clowns will be the highlight of a Grand Opening Kick Off on Sunday, July 12 from 12 Noon to 4 pm. The day will also include a Llama Petting Zoo, jugglers, games and more!
The general exhibit runs July 10 through August 23 from 10 am to 5 pm daily and will feature the life of Phineas Taylor Barnum, known as the “Great American Showman.” A thirty-two by eight foot Miniature Big Top Circus, courtesy of the Charlotte Dinger Collection is sure to wow visitors, and hundreds of items are also on loan from The Barnum Museum Collection in Bridgeport, Connecticut, including authentic Tom Thumb furniture, Jenny Lind memorabilia, circus artifacts and a photographic montage of P. T. Barnum, also a mayor, entrepreneur and developer. Kathleen Maher, Executive Director/Curator of The Barnum Museum will give a special presentation on July 23 at 6:30 pm on “The Life of P. T. Barnum.”
Exhibit admission includes $1 off coupons to enjoy delicious hot dog creations available at Village Center restaurants, just steps away. The Country House will serve up “Barnum’s BBQ,” Three Village Inn, “Mini Hot Dog Sliders,” Pentimento, the “Panini Weenie,” Brook House, “Philly Cheese Dog,” Robinson’s Tea Room,“Opening Day Chilly” and The Dish Café (formerly Golden Pear Café) will offer “The Stony Coney.”
Visitors to the WMHO exhibit can also Register to Win a Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Family Four-Pack to their Boom-A-Ring Circus at Coney Island now through September 7. Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® coupons will also be available at the exhibit.
Admission to the indoor exhibit all days is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12. Admission to the outdoor Grand Opening on July 12 is free.
