EEAC BNY Mellon Wealth Management Wine Press Concert Series Presents Kumalo Band at Jamesport Vineyards
 
(Riverhead, N.Y.) The East End Arts Council is excited to present the Kumalo Band, founded by Paul Simon bassist Bakithi Kumalo and his wife, Robbi (back-up singer for heavy-hitters like Aretha, Diana Ross, and Mary J. Blige) as part of the BNY Mellon Wealth Management Wine Press Concert Series.  This impossible-to-stay-seated-get-up-on-your-feet-and-groove show will be held rain or shine under a tent at Jamesport Vineyards (Route 25, Jamesport) from 6-8 pm on Saturday, July 11th, overlooking the vines at sunset.

Tickets are priced at a recession-special $15, and can be purchased at the East End Arts Council (133 East Main St., Riverhead) or at the gate. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, as seating is not usually provided. Picnic dinners are welcome, but no outside alcohol is permitted.

Info on the Band
Under the direction of Bakithi and Robbi, The Kumalo Band spans musical styles from Jazz and Pop, and South African traditional grooves to Disco to music for the very young or very old – all in an effort to keep audiences dancing and smiling with joy.  Robbi Kumalo has maintained an active schedule as a back-up singer with such artists as Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Jewel, Diana Ross, Rod Stewart, and Harry Belafonte among others. Her TV appearances with these artists include Oprah, 60 Minutes, Rosie, Regis & Kathie Lee, The View, VH-1 Storytellers, The Today Show, and Late Night with David Letterman. Robbi is married to Grammy-winning bassist Bakithi Kumalo, whose longstanding association with Paul Simon since Graceland is a story unto itself.
