Sport Flying USA Accepts First Delivery of New SportCruiser Aircraft

Long Island Press Releases & News

Sport Flying USA, a dealer of light sport aircraft, accepted its first delivery of two, new SportCruiser light sport aircraft build by the Czech Sport Aircraft Company in the Czech Republic.

sportcruiser (Shirley, N.Y.) – Sport Flying USA, a division of Mid Island Air Service, located at Brookhaven Airport, has just received delivery of two, new SportCruiser light sport aircraft build by the Czech Sport Aircraft Company in the Czech Republic. Sport Flying USA chose the SportCruiser because of its sleek design, roominess, load capacity, solid construction, and quality avionics and electronics, which put this aircraft head and shoulders above other light sport aircraft.

Although manufactured in the Czech Republic, the SportCruiser was developed by a U.S. designer, who used U.S. specification and components in its design making servicing much easier compared to other light sport aircraft manufactured overseas.

“We think the SportCruiser is an excellent entry aircraft for those who always dreamed of becoming a pilot, but thought they could never afford it,” said Lou Mancuso, President, of Sport Flying USA.  “Becoming a pilot in a light sport aircraft takes half the time and costs much less than getting a regular private pilot’s license. The light sport category of aircraft is very exciting because it’s opening the skies to a whole new generation of aviation enthusiasts as well as providing older pilots a stable and easy-to-fly platform to continue flying,“ continued Lou.

Headquartered at Brookhaven Airport at Shirley, NY on Long Island, Sport Flying USA, is an authorized dealer for the Sport Cruiser and Tecnam brands of light sport aircraft, in addition to sales, Sport Flying USA also provides flight training through its parent company, Mid Island Air Service, which maintains facilities at Long Island Airport and Brookhaven airport.

Light sport aircraft offers a bounty of advantages for the novice pilot: low cost of entry, less stringent regulations and the ability to earn a sports pilot license in half the time and cost as a standard private pilot license  – a very appealing combination for people who may have wanted to learn to fly, but thought it too expensive. Another group that benefits from the light sport program are older pilots who want to transition to an easier, cheaper plane to fly.  An addition bonus for older pilots is no medical exam to pass – all you need to earn your light sport license is a valid driver’s license.
