Long Island Press Releases & News

Bistro Les Minots, A French Bistro in Astoria Queens, Announces New Executive Chef

(Long Island, N.Y.) Opened on the 5th of March, Bistro Les Minots is a warm and cozy French Bistro located on 30th Avenue between 47th and 48th streets in Astoria, Queens.

“After 5 months of activity, my partner and I agreed that it was time to elevate the quality and consistency of our food, so we decided to make drastic changes by taking on board the up and coming Joe Kurauchi as Executive Chef.  Trained in Japan, where he learned kaiseki technique, Joe Kurauchi embarked on a worldwide culinary tour.  In his desire to augment his palette, he dined and cooked in 120 countries.  He worked in such far-flung kitchens as El Bulli in Spain, the Fat Duck in London, Stella Maris in Paris, and Morimoto in Philadelphia, Bombey, India & NYC.

While Joe made his debut at Bistro Les Minots the last week of July, we took advantage of his presence to make some changes to our menus especially in the fish department, by far his forte.  The transition from big kitchens to our small kitchen appears to be effortless for our new Chef.

In an attempt to use his background to the fullest extent, in the fall we’re planning weekly specials from all the different countries our Chef visited.  We will keep our menu French but incorporate his dishes as special from Japan, to Spain, England, France, and so on.

Acquiring both cooking techniques and a passion for international cuisine, chef Kurauchi easily elevates simple French bistro classics into tasty and flavorful dishes at very affordable prices.

While future tasting menus are in the making, we are now offering an end of summer special 3 course Dinner Menu Prix Fixe for $19.95. This 3 course meal is now available 7 days a week from 5 to 7 pm.” said Yann Heniet, one of the companies owners.
