The East End Arts Council Hosts Informational Grant Workshop for Artists of all Disciplines

(Riverhead, N.Y.) The East End Arts Council will host an informational session and grantwriting workshop on Tuesday September 15, 2009 from 5:30-8pm in the EEAC Carriage House. Three grant opportunities available to artists of all disciplines to be discussed include Decentralization Regrant, The Strategic Opportunity Stipend and Local Capacity Building Grant

A representative from Huntington Arts Council will discuss the Decentralization Regrant which includes a total of $160,000 available to artists and non -profit organizations for arts programming in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Applicants can request $500 to $5,000 for innovative arts and cultural projects that involve collaboration between artists and/or not-for-profit organizations that directly benefit the community served by the project and take place in either Nassau or Suffolk Counties. Individual artists must be sponsored by a not-for-profit organization. Not-for-profit organizations may apply for up to three projects; total requests cannot exceed $5,000. All applicants must attend a workshop to be eligible to apply. The Strategic Opportunities Stipend, administered by the East End Arts Council, is a project of the New York Foundation for the Arts designed to help individual artists of all disciplines take advantage of unique opportunities that will significantly benefit their work or career development. Literary, media, visual, music and performing artists may request support ranging from $100 to $600 for specific, forthcoming opportunities that are distinct from work in progress

The Local Capacity Building Grant, administered by the East End Arts Council supports partnerships between teaching artists and public and private schools to bring the arts into the broad school curriculum.

Workshops will provide an overview of the program followed by step-by-step grant-writing basics. Applicants must be residents of either Nassau or Suffolk County.
