Wantagh’s Website Turns 8

(Wantagh, N.Y.) The Wantagh Website, www.Wantagh.LI, turns eight years old this September, and is giving away gifts as a celebration and as a thanks to the community. “A lot has happened in the last year” said Susan Colotti. For example, in response to people in the neighborhood purchasing homes, a listing of Local Home Inspectors was added to Wantagh dot LI last December. To serve senior citizens in our area, a page dedicated to the charitable organization FISH (Friends In Serving Humanity) was created this past summer. In March, Wantagh dot LI announced complimentary website hosting to all business customers to assist in these difficult financial times. Susan continued, “Wantagh dot LI grows in response to our community’s needs.”

The website continues to feature the monthly Wantagh dot LI Survey Question and Photo Contest. Each month, a survey question is presented that is related to topics of interest to the community. The survey results are forwarded to local officials at the town, county and state levels. The results are also forwarded to media outlets and various local organizations such as the Wantagh Chamber of Commerce and the Wantagh/Seaford Homeowners Association. In addition, Wantagh dot LI arranges special meetings with local officials to discuss survey results.

First posted in September of 2001, Wantagh dot LI has grown to be a popular Internet resource for Wantagh and the surrounding area. To recognize Wantagh dot LI for its service to the community and the manner in which it “helps the residents and businesses of Wantagh, and the surrounding towns,” Legislator Dennis Dunne Sr, presented the town website with a Citation at a ceremony last fall.
