New York Reporters Will Perform Stand Up Comedy to Raise Money for US Troops
(New York, N.Y.) – The 4th Annual New York’s Funniest Reporter Show (www.nyfunniestreporter.com) will take place on Sunday, October 4th at 6:00 pm at Comic Strip Live (1568 Second Ave). It will feature ten media professionals each doing five minutes of stand up comedy in order to raise money for Operation Uplink (www.operationuplink.org) – a charity that supports U.S. Troops and their families. At the end of the night, a winner will be declared.
“It’s become a growing, fun tradition. In the last four years, we’ve had over twenty reporters muster up the courage and take the stage for our Troops,” said NYFR Executive Producer, Ryan McCormick. “Stand up comedy can be very challenging, not to mention scary especially for someone who’s never done it before.”
In order to prepare for the competition, each reporter had the opportunity to work with a professional comedian(s) that acted as a mentor. The mentor was responsible for giving the reporter a crash course in stand up comedy and helping them write their material.
Appearing on the show this year will be: Taryn Winter Brill (Good Morning America), Ellis Henican (Fox News & Newsday), Lori Harfenist (The Resident), David Webb (Fox News), Rob Hoell (CW11), Nikki Egan (NBC), Marianne Schaberg (HGTV / CNN), Noelle Hancock (Harper Collins), and Robert George (New York Post). 2008 NYFR Winner Alison Rosen will be performing in the show but, will not be competing.
Judging the competition will be Jess Todtfeld (President of Media Training Worldwide), Tasha Harris (Founder & Editor-In-Chief of StageTime Magazine), Dylan Gadino (Founder & Editor-In-Chief of Punchline Magazine), and Sean McCarthy (Editor of Comic’s Comic).
The cost of admission is $15 in advance and $20 at the door (plus a two-drink minimum). 100% of the show admission will be donated to Operation uplink. To purchase show tickets online, please visit: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/84702. To make a reservation, please call (212) 861-9386.
