(Bethpage, N.Y.) – Bethpage Federal Credit Union (Bethpage), Long Island, NY, will host a turkey and trimmings collection to benefit Island Harvest — the hunger relief organization which supplies Long Island’s community-based nonprofit organizations with critical food support — on Friday, November 13, 2009 from 7:30 am – 4:00 pm at the front parking lot of its headquarters at 899 South Oyster Bay Road in Bethpage, New York.

“We know that Long Islanders who are more fortunate this season than their neighbors will be generous in dropping off turkeys and trimmings November 13th in what is an urgent need by Island Harvest to restock in time for Thanksgiving,” said Bethpage Vice President Linda Armyn. “In fact, ServPro has already pledged to donate 1,000 turkeys on the day of the event, and we challenge others to do the same!”

“As a Company that was founded on Long Island more than 30 years ago, we are honored to join with Bethpage Federal Credit Union and others to help provide much-needed support for families who live in the very communities we serve,” said Lisa Trimarchi, vice president of employee services, Cablevision Systems Corporation.

The food drive will include daylong and after-school specials for family fun, and a line up of trucks, tents and boxes for storing the public’s donations.  From 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., New York Knicks legend John Starks, will be on site to assist the volunteers and chat with the public.

Anyone making a donation will have a chance to enter a raffle to receive a Thanksgiving Feast for 10 contributed by Long Island’s take-out fine food caterer, Zorn’s Poultry Farms.  A drawing of names entered into the raffle will be held at the end of the day, with the winner to be announced at 4:00 pm.  The New York Islanders will also provide

“Turkeys for Tickets,” where for each turkey donated, the New York Islanders will give away a voucher for a December 21st Islanders game ticket.

We are able to make the greatest impact working together,” stated Joe Rende, Vice President of Energy Solutions Services – Metro NY, National Grid. “As a major company on Long Island, we’re pleased to join Bethpage Federal Credit Union, and all partners, in this effort to gather food the community needs.”
