Long Island Orthodontist Invites Kids to Give Up Sweets for Treats – and Healthier Smile – at Candy Exchange

(Long Island, N.Y.) Faber Orthodontics is hosting Smiles Change Lives’ (SCL) 3rd Annual Candy Exchange on Monday, Nov. 2, 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., at the orthodontic office of Dr. Zackary Faber, 425 Broadhollow Road, Suite 125, Melville, NY. This event is free and open to the public, and is intended to give families a healthy alternative to the sweets collected during Halloween.
 
“The candy exchange has been an event we have been discussing for a couple of years in our office,” says Dr. Faber, who is Co-Chair of the Long Island Chapter of SCL. “This year, the candy exchange was an easy decision.  We can support the troops overseas and the Long Island Chapter of SCL while allowing our community to share in this project”
 
The Candy Exchange is an SCL effort to encourage good oral health by decreasing the amount of candy consumed on and after Halloween. The event follows October’s National Orthodontic Health Month (NOHM) and is intended to motivate youth to retain oral health awareness throughout the year. This year’s Candy Exchange will give kids plenty of incentives to surrender their sugar-saturated loot. Among the thrills Faber Orthodontics has planned for the event:

• Goody bags with toothbrushes, Listerine, tattoos
• Other great giveaways
• Door prizes for three top candy donations

Dr. Faber plans to donate the candy collected to our troops overseas. This year, Dr. Faber hopes to collect 1,500 lbs, which will provide braces for six low-income youth in the Long Island area.
