Manhattan Attorney Jeffrey A. Galant Joins Meltzer, Lippe
(Mineola, N.Y.) Long Island’s business law firm Meltzer, Lippe, Goldstein & Breitstone, LLP (Meltzer Lippe) recently announced that Manhattan attorney Jeffery A. Galant has joined its Tax and Trusts and Estates Departments.
“Jeff and I got our Masters of Tax Law degrees from New York University at the same time in the mid 1960’s,” said Lew Meltzer, managing partner of the Mineola law firm. “Jeff expands Meltzer Lippe’s position to offer our clients the expertise of a New York City firm without the expensive address. A graduate of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Galant earned his law degree at Columbia University Law School, and his L.L.M. in Taxation from New York University Law School.

Mr. Galant, who resides in Manhattan, joins Meltzer Lippe from his most recent post as Counsel in the Trusts and Estates Department of the New York law firm Herrick, Feinstein LLP. Prior to his tenure there, Mr. Galant was the Tax and Estate Planning Partner of Labaton, Sucharow & Rudoff LLP, also of Manhattan. Mr. Galant provides counsel to family and other business owners on tax and business matters including succession and estate planning and family offices and foundations. He also advises artists and collectors with respect to their collections as it may impact their estate planning.
In addition to his law practice, which has earned Mr. Galant inclusion in the prestigious Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers lists, his distinguished career has encompassed memberships on the Board of Advisors for the Journal of Taxation of S Corporations, the Foundation for Entrepreneurship, The Entrepreneurship Institute, The Family Business Council of Greater New York and the Tax, Trust and Estate, International Law and Business Law sections of the American, New York State and Florida Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Bar of the City of New York and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Mr. Galant is an adjunct professor of Taxation at the New York University School of Continuing and Professional Studies, currently teaching courses on Business Succession and Corporate Taxation. He has also widely published in business, tax and law journals and presented at conferences in the United States and abroad.
