Triple Play for Wantagh Middle School and Wantagh dot LI
(Wantagh, N.Y.) For the third year in a row, Wantagh dot LI had the privilege of speaking to the 8th grade E-Business class of Wantagh Middle School. To provide real-world insight, Nancy O’Connor invites local Internet personalities to speak to her WMS E-Business students. “Having speakers from local Internet companies helps to reinforce and enhance the E-Business curriculum” said Mrs. O’Connor. In addition to Wantagh dot LI, Mrs. O’Connor has invited a wide range of other guests including Andrew Hazen of Prime Visibility, Dennis Campagna of Clear Channel and Phil Danza of Garage Wall Wraps.
Yesterday, the 8th grade class of approximately 30 students was given a presentation on the origins of the Wantagh town website, its features and plans for the future. In the half-hour talk light-hearted aspects of the website, such as Abigail the official bunny mascot, were covered in addition to more serious features such as the monthly survey question that is often used as a barometer of the town’s opinion. “I was impressed by the class’ understanding of the internet and the quality of their questions” stated Jim Colotti of Wantagh dot LI.
Nancy O’Connor, herself an alumni of Wantagh HS, has been with the district for 18 years and began teaching the E-Business class 11 years ago. Among the many items covered in the class, the students are taught web design, video game creation and Flash animation.
