Oceanside Library To Open Doors To NY Times Best-Selling Author
Program To Focus On ‘World Wrestling Entertainment Encyclopedia’; Free Tickets To Be Available Starting on Sunday, January 3, 2010
(Oceanside, N.Y.) Few activities in recent years have brought family members closer together than the worlds of sports and entertainment. And when you combine these two entities – - as World Wrestling Entertainment has done – - you have the recipe for a long and mutually-beneficial relationship. One of the people who have recognized and nurtured this valuable connection between pro wrestling and its multitude of rabid fans of all ages is Brian Shields, a Rockville Centre, NY, native who is both a highly-popular author and a thriving marketing executive.
On Sunday, January 10, 2010, beginning at 2 pm, Shields will conduct an entertaining and informative presentation on the history, growth and legendary “characters” of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). In addition, he will sign copies of his most recent book: “WWE Encyclopedia: The Definitive Guide To World Wrestling Entertainment” (DK Publishing, March 2009). The function is free and open to the public, with seating limited on a first-come, first-served basis.
“WWE Encyclopedia: The Definitive Guide To World Wrestling Entertainment” is a collection of more than 900 entries profiling the history of World Wrestling Entertainment. It debuted on the prestigious NY Times best-sellers list in Spring 2009, and is one of four books on the topic written by Shields that will be available for purchase for a special discounted event price only at his appearance. In addition to his lecture, Shields’ program will feature a multi-media production on WWE, a Question & Answer segment and a book-signing opportunity. The afternoon also will include a free raffle of WWE products and books.
“I have been a huge pro wrestling fan since I was a youngster,” Shields noted, “I’ve always been fascinated by the pageantry, excitement and showmanship of the sport, and have found the wrestlers themselves to have unique and eccentric personalities and styles. Having been raised in Rockville Centre, I am certain that our ‘show’ will be engaging for adults, teens, tweens and young people living all across Long Island.”
Tickets are limited to four per family in advance at the Oceanside Library’s Information Desk beginning on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, for residents of the Oceanside School District . . . and beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, for non-residents (if available). Event is limited to first 130 attendees on a first-come, first-served basis.
