NYSSMA Prep Workshop Gets Young Musicians Ready

(Riverhead, N.Y.) – Join Diane Gale, an experienced musician and NYSSMA Piano and Voice Adjudicator, for a workshop on Friday, February 19 from 11AM – 1PM, that will thoroughly prepare young musicians for the NYSSMA solo or ensemble performance, key steps in most academic music programs. Ms. Gale will explain the functions and role of the NY State School Music Association, why it is an important part of music education, and what to expect when you get there. She will take each participant through a mock NYSSMA experience and provide a critique that will not only serve as practice and preparation, but help put them at ease for the real thing. This important workshop is only $20 for EEAC members and current EEAC School of the Arts students and $30 for others.

Ms. Gale has been teaching piano and voice in the Long Island area for over twenty eight years. She holds a BS from St. Josephs College and a MS in Music Education from Long Island University, C. W. Post, with a major in piano. She holds permanent New York State Teacher Certification for grades K-12. Her vast experience includes teaching piano to students ranging in age from four year old through college level. She has taught college prep in music theory, ear training and pedagogy. Ms. Gale is an active NYSSMA adjudicator in piano, voice and All State voice. She is the Recital Chair, Vice President and Repertoire Consultant for Suffolk Piano Teacher’s Foundation. She sings with LISCA, BAFFA, Choral Society of the Moriches and the Congregational Church of Patchogue as a soprano I. She enjoys teaching all types of music and believes strongly in bringing out the creativity of each individual through the repertoire.
