Local Chef Is Recognized In National Recipe Contest
Chef Miguel Rodriguez honored by Driscoll’s
(Long Island, N.Y.) Chef Miguel Rodriguez of Bravo Cucina Italiana in West Nyack, NY, was awarded an Apple® iPod Nano to recognize his outstanding showcase of Driscoll’s berries in Driscoll’s first “Next Top Berry Chef” contest. The national contest, in which chefs entered original recipes using any combination of Driscoll’s strawberries, raspberries, blackberries or blueberries, was held this spring, and awarded prizes such as IPOD Nanos, American Express gift cards, or a trip to Monterey, CA for the grand prize winner.
Driscoll’s asked produce distributors around the country to nominate chefs who they believe were the most creative in their use of Driscoll’s berries. J. Kings Food Service Professionals of Holtsville, NY, sent them a nomination for their customer Chef Rodriguez. In response to his nomination, Chef Rodriguez entered his original recipe for Driscoll’s Poached Mixed Berries with Riesling Zabaglione, which the judging panel felt merited recognition for his creative use of Driscoll’s berries.
In addition to his prize, Driscoll’s may put his recipe on the Driscoll’s web site or share the recipe with foodservice editors in support of their articles.
