1st Group Of Certified Nursing Assistants To Graduate New Program
At Oak Hollow Nursing Center
(Middle Island, N.Y.) September 22, 2010: Oak Hollow Nursing Center was proud to congratulate five Certified Nursing Assistants who were first in the facility to graduate from the Geriatric Nursing Assistant Career Development Program.
The Geriatric Nursing Assistant Career Development Program is operated by the Foundation for Quality Care, which is the research and education affiliate of the New York State Health Facilities Association (NYSHFA). For a facility to participate in the program the employer of the CNA’s must write a letter of agreement and a small fee to cover the costs of the course materials. This is the 3rd successful year of the program. The GNACD is funded by a three-year grant from the Jacob and Valeria Langeloth Foundation.
Richard Patterson, the Executive Director of NYHSFA, came from Albany to personally thank and commemorate the advancement the graduates. “This is the best part of my job– to be able to come to a few chosen facilities and personally honor the dedicated staff. It is a proud moment.”
The 27-hour program was designed to enhance and flourish the dedicated skills necessary to care for our elderly who can no longer take care of them self. The newly graduated Geriatric Nursing Assistants have displayed a constant compassion and dedication to those they care for on a regular basis at Oak Hollow. The group will join 220 fellow GNACD graduates within the State of New York.
Each graduate was presented with a certificate and gift from Oak Hollow’s Administrator, Vilma Osborne and Owner/President Dr. Jacob Dimat– “Oak Hollow’s care is best because of people like you who have taken the initiative to further educate yourselves with the intention to better help others. Oak Hollow has been dedicated in helping those who can no longer help themselves and you have helped achieve that. Congratulations and thank you.”
