Patricia Shih, award-winning singer-songwriter, recording artist, former Cablevision TV personality and author from Huntington, will present “Big Ideas for the Holidays!”, a fun-filled family concert at Old Westbury Gardens on Friday, December 10, two shows at 6:00 and 7:15 pm.  Admission is $15 for the general public and $13 for OWG members.  Registration is required.

Ms. Shih and her band, along with volunteers from the audience, will celebrate the winter holidays of Christmas, Chanukah and Kwanzaa.  All ages are welcomed, with children being spotlighted on most of the songs.  Beautiful, educational and riotously fun, this show sold out twice every year for seven years at the mansion.  Now returning after a few years’ hiatus, Patricia hopes to bring her “music with meaning” to a new generation.

Ms. Shih has been one of Long Island’s best-known, well-respected and loved family artists for over 25 years.  She has a special capacity for reaching all ages with her music, from the smallest toddler to the mature senior. Her songs teach positive social values while entertaining with high-energy fun and excitement. Audiences get to be “the star” as they sing along, use movement and sign language, and dance on stage in these spirited concerts full of fun and laughter.  She will be performing on guitar and will be accompanied by her husband, Stephen Fricker on electric bass, guitars and percussion, and Jim Mansfield on drums and percussion.  After the concert Ms. Shih will be signing autographs and selling her six CDs and two books.

Ms. Shih tours the US, delighting audiences of all ages since 1968.  She has been featured on numerous radio and TV shows, at major music festivals, and in various clubs and concert halls with such luminaries as Pete Seeger, Bonnie Raitt, David Bromberg, Tom Chapin, Richie Havens, Odetta and Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary.  She starred for a year as host on Cablevision’s “Tell Me A Story” for pre-school and early elementary school-aged children, with the show airing twice daily, Monday through Friday.  Her songs have been published in national magazines and songbooks, and are recorded and performed by other artists throughout the country.  Ms. Shih was named a Long Island Woman of Distinction by Distinction Magazine and a LI Woman Making a Difference by the Long Island Press.

Pete Seeger calls her “a very prolific, wonderful songwriter!”

“Outstanding success…an engaging performer…witty and charming pieces that truly do touch the minds and hearts of all ages.”  Madeleine Gutman, Town of Greenburg, Elmsford, NY
