February 15 at the Suffolk Y JCC
(Commack, N.Y.) Today’s economic crisis has created extreme hardship for many in the community, most of whom never needed assistance before. UJA Federation of New York’s Connect to Care is offering no fee seminars and workshops for those who may be unemployed, under-employed or looking to re-enter the workforce. The next workshops “Job Search for the Mature Worker” and “Advanced LinkedIn” will be held on February 15 at the Suffolk Y JCC, 74 Hauppauge Road, Commack, NY.
Job search, particularly if one has held a single position for a long time is a daunting task. Mature persons have concerns that may make this task more challenging. Beginning at 10:30am, “Job Search for the Mature Worker” will look at methods and approaches to searching, resume preparation and interview practices that will better prepare the mature worker to face this task. The major focus will be on accessing the 85% of jobs that are not advertised.
Do you currently use LinkedIn to invite connections and build your network? There’s much more that you can utilize to assist in your job search. “Advanced LinkedIn” at 1:30 pm will look at ways to use LinkedIn to further develop your professional network, meet people through groups and utilize applications on the LinkedIn site to their maximum potential.
