Good Samaritan Names Hospital Boards Vice Chair
Jerome Poller appointed
(Melville, N.Y.) Jerome Poller, MBA, has been appointed vice chair for the board of trustees for Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center and St. Charles Hospital, all members of Catholic Health Services (CHS). Poller is a former vice president of JPMorgan Chase, having been with the firm for 31 years. During that time, he managed various functions, including operations, administration and credit card information technology.
“Jerry brings great experience to his new role as vice chair,” said Chairman of the Board Salvatore Sodano. “He has been on the board of trustees for the three Suffolk County hospitals since 2008 and has been instrumental in overseeing key aspects of hospital operations.”
One of Poller’s duties as vice chair is to preside at board meetings in the absence of the chairman. Originally joining St. Catherine’s board of trustees in 2007, Poller continued to serve in that capacity when the three separate hospital boards came together under the auspices of CHS in 2008. He has worked on the board’s Finance, Audit and Compliance, Planning and Human Resources committees.
In addition to his role at CHS, he is the treasurer for United Cerebral Palsy of Nassau’s board of directors and is on several committees for that organization. Poller, who served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970 and completed tours of duty on Okinawa and Taiwan, is a certified Black Belt in Six Sigma, the business improvement methodology. A parishioner of St. Hugh of Lincoln, he is a member of the church’s Finance Council, and resides in Huntington with his wife, Gene-Louise.
Poller joins a slate of officers that includes the newly appointed chairman, Salvatore Sodano, Raymond Borsella serving as treasurer and Deacon Thomas Reilly, who is secretary. For more information, please call Chris Hendriks at (631) 376-4104.
