Long Island Bluesman Kerry Kearney at Grounds and Sounds
![]() |
On Friday August 12 at 8:00 p.m., Grounds and Sounds Café, the monthly live music coffee house in East Setauket, NY, will present the Kerry Kearney Band, the best blues band on Long Island and one of the best in the world. Kerry is a native Long Islander, but his band plays an exciting and completely original style of Blues-Roots-Delta music. The band is a frequent headliner of blues festivals in the United States and overseas, and has been awarded “Best Blues Band” by the Long Island Voice. The Voice also named Kerry as “Best Guitarist,” and he has been named “Best Bluesman of the Year” by the Long Island Blues Society.
“At present, when ‘carbon-copy’ seems to have become the set standard of musical style, it is so refreshing to enjoy a performance of original artistry. No gimmicks, no stylistic replication of artists past, but a fresh, innovative voice. Kerry’s songwriting includes honest lyrics and music performed with emotion, energy and an unquestionable command of his instrument.” Joan Mallotides, New York Blues & Jazz Society, Editor E*BluesNews
“Possibly the best blues slide guitarist this side of the Mississippi or at least of the East River”.
“Whether on his feet playing slide guitar licks to rival the best or sitting down with his Regal dobro across his lap, Kearney just gets better and better. His talent transcends all musical boundaries and in a perfect world, his name would be known from coast to coast.” Ron Biegel
