Delivered in 2012 was born at 1:53 am, January 1

(West Islip, NY) Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center’s first baby delivered in 2012 was born at 1:53 am, January 1.  Debra and Lenny Minervini of West Islip welcomed their second child, Matthew Jacob Minervini, who weighed in at 6 lbs., 4 oz.  The Minervinis’ toddler, L.J., was thrilled to meet his new brother, according to his proud dad.  In honor of the baby boy’s arrival, the hospital presented the family with a gift basket.

“The nurses were wonderful during my long labor.  They provided the support needed to keep me focused,” said little Matthew’s mom.

Each year, approximately 3,000 babies are delivered at Good Samaritan.  In addition to maternity services, the medical center’s Pediatric Department offers a comprehensive continuum of care, ensuring that newborns through adolescents receive expert care close to home.  The hospital offers pediatric emergency services, a Child Life program and advanced neonatal services.  Additionally, the offsite Center for Pediatric Specialty Care, with its new Medically Complex Children’s Program, addresses complicated health issues and offers coordinated care by subspecialists.  For more information on maternity and pediatric services provided at Good Samaritan, call (631) 376-4444.
