More Than 700 Students, Parents and Educators Travel to Albany to Lobby for Educational Equity for All Students
(Long Island, NY) Hundreds of students, parents and educators from rural and small cities communities will travel to Albany to rally for fairness in New York State’s public schools. The group will demand that the legislature redirect the $250 million set aside in the Executive budget for competitive grants to classroom restorations to restore teachers and programs to help children prepare for college and careers and will call for additional classroom restorations above the $805 million proposed in Executive Budget
When: Wednesday, February, 29, 2012. 11:30 A.M to 12:30 P.M (Best Time for Press)
Where: The Egg – Hart Theater
Speakers will include students, parents, teachers, school superintendents and state legislators as well as representatives of NYSUT and AQE. A presentation regarding the disproportionate impact of state education budget cuts will be given by Dr. John Sipple, Director of the New York State Center for Rural Schools at Cornell University.
