Long Island Press Releases & News

Guilds of Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center recently presented a check for more than $82,000

(West Islip, NY) The Guilds of Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center recently presented a check for more than $82,000 to The Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation to support the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).  This most recent Guild donation will enable the acquisition of a temperature management system, continuous positive airway pressure devices for premature babies with respiratory distress and an infant resuscitator.

Good Samaritan’s 16-bed, NICU, the largest perinatal and neonatal center in southern Suffolk County, treats more than 500 infants each year.  The NICU is equipped to provide care for the broad range of newborn critical illnesses, including breathing, infectious, surgical, hematological, neurological, genetic and metabolic disorders.  New treatments available at Good Samaritan include high frequency ventilation techniques and the ability to provide nitrous oxide treatment.  This offers a high level of care to babies with severe respiratory failure.  At Good Samaritan, a neonatologist is in the hospital 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, to attend to all high-risk deliveries, provide medical care and support to infants and their families

For more information on the Guilds of Good Samaritan, call (631) 376-4444.
