Cycles into Riverhead
 
(Long Island, NY) In celebration of National EMS Week (May 20 – 26), approximately 100 cyclists called the “Muddy Angels,” who are mostly EMS professionals from around the country, will participate in a 7 day bike ride organized by the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride, Inc. beginning in Boston, MA on May 19th and ending in Alexandria, VA on May 25th.
 
The cyclists will land on the North Fork of Long Island on Sunday, May 20th. The Riverhead Town Police will escort the riders from the Southold Town line to their rest-stop at Martha Clara before proceeding to the Hilton Garden Inn on Route 58 in Riverhead where Riverhead Town Councilman, John Dunleavy, other elected officials and supporters will welcome them to Riverhead. The cyclists will be having a BBQ dinner at the hotel and will be spending the night there before their trek to Westbury in the morning.
 
The National EMS Memorial Bike Ride, Inc. is a national organization dedicated to providing charitable support to Emergency Medical Services personnel by organizing and implementing long distance cycling events that memorialize and celebrate the lives of those who serve every day, those who have become sick or injured while performing their duties and those who have died in the line of duty.
 
Supervisor Sean M. Walter welcomes the EMS cyclists to Riverhead. “Our town is proud to support the ‘Muddy Angels’ cause, “ said Supervisor Walter. “We welcome the cyclists with open arms and we salute their dedication to their fellow EMS professionals.”
