Roslyn Heights Attorney Evelyn Kalenscher
 
(Mineola, NY) Twice a week, Evelyn Kalenscher of Roslyn Heights donates her legal skills in Nassau County District Court representing indigent people facing eviction.  For her hundreds of hours of pro bono service through the Volunteer Lawyers Project’s Landlord/Tenant Attorney of the Day Program, a program that provides free legal services for Nassau County’s low-income community, Nassau County Bar Association President Susan Katz Richman presented her with the 2012 Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award. 
            
“Every one of my cases is interesting and unique,” Kalenscher said. “Many people who don’t have any idea what their rights are get taken advantage of by landlords. They are grateful that our organization is here to help them.”
          
In addition to her pro bono work, Evelyn Kalenscher currently serves as the chair of the NCBA Ethics Committee. She is also a member of the New York State Bar Association Real Property Committee; the Theodore Roosevelt American Inn of Court; and a board member of Yashar, the attorneys’ and judges’ chapter of Hadassah.
           
Among her many volunteer efforts, one of her major endeavors is serving on the Board of Managers of her condominium community for over 10 years and as its president for the past five years.

Kalenscher received her B.B.A. from Hofstra University and her J.D. from Hofstra Law School. In 1995, she retired from her partnership in the firm of Genoa, Kalenscher & Noto, P.C., where the majority of her practice was in matrimonial and real estate law.
