Stunning, cult Italian soprano Francesca Patanè sizzles in the title role of one of the most famous operas of all time. Supported by a cast of international stars, Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot is masterfully directed by Enrico Castiglione. In this perpetual favorite, Turandot, a princess whose cruelty masks her fear of love, executes all the men who try to win her – until a stranger conquers her with the power of love. This thrilling opera features some of the composer’s most glorious music, including the stirring anthem “Nessun dorma.” The tigerish woman with unrelenting pride is brought vividly to life at the remarkable Greek Theatre with exotic costumes by Sonia Cammarata. Teatro Vittorio Emanuele Synphonic Orchestra is conducted by Fabio Mastrangelo. The beautiful Greek theatre was built in the 7th century BC at the heart of the little southern Italian town of Taormina, on the top of a hill overlooking the Mediterranean. Every summer, it comes to life with an intense programme of film and performing arts, the highlight being the presentation of an opera masterwork. The combination of powerful performances and Taormina’s unique setting make this Turandot unforgettable.
