July 12 event will take place at Westbury Public Library
 
(Long Island, NY) Assemblyman Michael Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head) is hosting a “Shed the Meds” public awareness event on Thursday, July 12 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Westbury Public Library. The event, sponsored by the Nassau County Police Department, provides a safe and secure environment for residents to dispose of unused prescription drugs. A leader in the movement to stop the spread of prescription-drug abuse, Assemblyman Montesano sees this as a great chance to protect the community’s health and keep prescription drugs away from young children and other vulnerable groups.
 
“As an attorney, NYPD detective, investigator for the New York City Emergency Medical Service and former EMT supervisor, I have observed firsthand the pain caused by prescription-drug abuse and addiction,” said Montesano. “Shed the Meds is a great opportunity for our residents to get rid of unused prescription drugs in a safe environment under the supervision of the Nassau County Police Department and keep potentially harmful drugs away from those who would misuse them.
