Miami Flair to Make Art Southampton a Game Changer on East End Art Scene

(Long Island, NY) Presented by the long running Art Miami, one of the most prestigious international fairs of contemporary and modern art fairs in the world, the inaugural Art Southampton will equal its sister fair in offering not only the highest quality of art from the world’s most respected galleries but displaying these magnificent works in a luxurious specially constructed 75,000 square foot Pavilion featuring an elegant VIP Lounge and private spaces for galleries. Art Southampton’s location at 605 County Road on the Elks Lodge Fair Grounds is the ideal location, at the Gateway to the East End, for visitors from the West or East. As well, with extended evening hours on Thursday & Friday until 10 PM, Art Southampton has made it easy for the weekenders to stop in on their way to their destinations.

On Thursday, July 26, the Inaugural Art Southampton, presented by Art Miami, the longest running art fair in South Florida, will be rolling out the red carpet for its VIP Preview Reception benefiting Southampton Hospital for guests such as Donna Karan, Henry Buhl, Nicole Miller, Audrey & Martin Gruss, Ted & Ruth Baum, Lucia Hwong Gordon, Berry Brown, Carolyn Kendall Buchter & Ron Buchter, Sara Herbert Galloway, NancyJane & Jeffrey Loewy, Ann Liguori & Scott Vallary, Kevin Berlin, Roger Blaugh & Michael Forestano, Baroness Sheri de Borchgrave, Sherry Dobbin & Marc Fasanella, Southampton Hospital President & CEO Robert Chaloner and hundreds more.

Partner Maserati North America will welcome Maserati drivers with unlimited VIP access and special corral parking; complimentary self parking for all on the fairgrounds.

Award winning landscape designer Christopher LaGuardia famed for site his specific installations will transform the entrance into an oasis to compliment the massive sculptures of Andrew Levitas that will be among those on display.

Celebrated Southampton caterer Tim Burke will offer such locally sourced fare as seared peppercorn tuna Lobster sale en brioche, grilled chicken & watermelon and smoked striped bass with apples & horseradish. Sponsor Heineken will make sure there is plenty of icy beer and Bootlegger 21Vodka will be mixing up such beach club favorites as the classic “Southside”. In Addition, guest will have the First Look at magnificent art works from close to 50 of the world’s most respected galleries.

Highlights of the weekend-long Fair will include:
* First View | Thursday, July 26th | Art Southampton’s Exclusive VIP Preview Reception will benefit the Southampton Hospital will provide VIP collectors and members of the press a unique opportunity to view and acquire some of the finest contemporary and modern art prior to the Fair opening to the public. By invitation only. Cocktails and Hors d’oeuvres will be served.

*Also on Thursday July 26, there will be the premiere of “HEAARTBEAT” a documentary which takes an incisive look at the late renowned sculptor John Chamberlain by his step-daughter filmmaker Alexandra Fairweather. By documenting Chamberlain’s artistic process and intentions, the film reveals his desire to go out into the world and create art that makes your ‘heart beat. “HEAARTBEAT” captures the man that the public has not seen before: Chamberlain as a father, a husband, and a friend. As he battles health issues, Chamberlain races against time to complete sculptures that will leave his mark on the world. In conclusion, the movie asserts that art’s true value comes from the presentation of ‘unprecedented information’ and ‘ the experience of self-discovery’.

The screening will benefit the Ross School’s Chamberlain–Fairweather Scholarship Fund for the Arts. The Fund was created by John Chamberlain, Prudence Fairweather and Alexandra Fairweather in 2007 to recognize and support students with a passion for the arts who are in need of financial aid to receive the excellent global interdisciplinary education offered by Ross School. Each year this scholarship encourages young artists to realize their dreams and impact the future of fine arts.

*Friday July 27, internationally acclaimed director Robert Wilson will host a VIP reception followed by a screening of “HEAARTBEAT” to launch the Watermill Center/Chamberlain Residency Grant Fund. International friends and local supporters of The Watermill Center who are attending their famed gala Saturday evening will be able to kickoff their weekend in grand style in the VIP Lounge at Art Southampton

Art Southampton has already won the support of numerous prominent collectors, philanthropists and major art world figures, who call The Hamptons home, many of whom are serving on its prestigious Host Committee. They have also made a concerted to reach out to the next generation of collectors.

The Inaugural Edition of Art Southampton is proving to be catnip for savvy young collectors and groups from up and down the East Coast. Many of the individuals and groups are very familiar with the Art Miami style of presentation and are eagerly looking forward to the fair. But there is also great excitement among first-timers, many of whom are too busy on Wall Street to fly down to Miami mid-winter and relish the idea of a world class art fair where they summer.

On Thursday, July 26, there will be a special reception for the members of the Harvard Business School of New York Club during the VIP Preview which benefits Southampton Hospital from 6PM to 10PM.

On Friday July 27, ARTLOG is sponsoring a Young Contemporaries event for Whitney Contemporaries, Museum of Modern Art Junior Associates and Columbia Alumni Arts Patrons in Art Southampton’s elegant VIP Lounge from 7:30PM -9PM, followed by an after Party at the very hot Southampton Social Club beginning at 9PM.

Also on Friday, Hedge Funds Care Young Professionals are invited to kickoff their Behind the Hedges Fundraiser the following evening at Art Southampton.

The Museum of Arts and Design has organized a group visit for Friday and The Contemporaries will be visiting on Saturday July 28. Members of ArtTable will also be attending the fair, as well as, many other prominent groups.
