AQENY: “State Not Living Up to Promise, Students Paying Price”

Long Island Press Releases & News

CFE Returns to New York State; Statement Released by Billy Easton, Executive Director, Alliance for Quality Education

(Long Island, N.Y.)  ”The Governor and Legislature have made a commitment to the students of New York State in the settlement of the Campaign for Fiscal Equity, and they have not lived up to their promise; plain and simple. The State has a constitutional obligation to provide a ‘sound basic education,’ and across the state, we are seeing that promise broken by an endless cycle of classroom cuts. If the State is not going to step up to the plate in educating its students, then parents and students need to take whatever steps are necessary to ensure they receive what the state has promised to give them–a ‘sound basic education.’”

The return of CFE to New York State provides hope to students, parents and communities across the state.” Billy Easton, Executive Director, Alliance for Quality Education
