Trainees begin with level 1, which is designed for beginners teaching yoga, practicing yoga, and learning yoga. For experienced Yoga instructors, this workshop is designed to offer new skills to teach Yoga classes in the mainstream health club or gym environment, focusing on the physical fitness benefits of traditional yoga poses. There are no prerequisites, only the desire to learn and commitment to attend.
What makes YogaFit especially unique is the company’s mission to bring Yoga to the masses. When only 10% of the U.S. population belongs to a health club, YogaFit plays an active role in getting people moving and requires every YogaFit Level One trainee to perform 8 hours of practice teaching in a community service setting before receiving a Certificate of Completion. The benefits of YogaFit’s socially responsible program are endless for local communities.
YogaFit is also dedicated to community service via community outreach programs from their corporate headquarters in Torrance, CA and partner studios across the world. To gain a certificate of completion, participants in the YogaFit Teacher Training must donate 8 classes to a group of people who normally would not have the opportunity to take yoga. YogaFit trainees have worked with Handicap, Seniors, Children, Teachers, Stressed out Corporate Executives, Teens at Risk, HIV + , breast Cancer Survivors and others. Wantagh’s Website Celebrates 7 Years this September
The Wantagh Website, www.Wantagh.LI, turns seven years old this September. First posted in September of 2001, the Website has grown to be a popular Internet resource for Wantagh and the surrounding area. “We feel honored to serve our community” said Susan Colotti. Many depend on the Wantagh Website for fast and easy access to local information. Susan continued, “Wantagh dot LI has grown, in large part, because we listen to our visitors and respond to their needs.” As an example, many requested that Wantagh dot LI include links to business websites, and starting this month the Wantagh website will begin promoting a program to add these links as a free service to local businesses and the community.
Also featured on the Website, are the monthly Wantagh dot LI Survey Question and Photo Contest. Each month, the Wantagh Website presents a survey question related to topics of interest to the community. The results of the survey are forwarded to local officials at the town, county and state levels. The results are also forwarded to media outlets and various local organizations such as the Wantagh Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Wantagh dot LI arranges special meetings with local officials to discuss survey results.
Looking forward, Wantagh dot LI will continue to evolve to meet the needs of the community. Anyone that would like to share their thoughts can call or email the Wantagh Website. Just click on the “contact us” link on the homepage.
To celebrate its 7th birthday, Wantagh dot LI is giving away Wantagh T Shirts, Wantagh denim shirts and other Wantagh “goodies”. Please visit the Website for more information and to enter the raffle.
