The Long Island Lady Riders
The Rough Riders came into existence in 1994 and joined the United Soccer Leagues as part of the USISL. In 2007 the Rough Riders reacquired a W-League franchise from the USL, which was formerly known as the Lady Riders. The Dowling College Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Kerri McCabe as head coach for Dowling College women's soccer team. The club team began play in the fall of 2003 and has been elevated to varsity status for the fall of 2005. McCabe is currently a member of the Long Island Lady Rough Riders and has been with the team since 2000. On the same year, Lady Riders created a youth academy, establishing girl's teams in the fourteen through eighteen age groups, which compete in the USL's Super Y-League, America's soccer league for youth players. During a single year, the Lady Riders reach approximately 250,000 Long Islanders. At present both the Rough Riders Men's and Women's compete in the USL and enjoy playing double header matches at Michael J. Tully Park in New Hyde Park. The team is currently owned by Greater New York Soccer, Inc. all together with Chuck Jacob, acting as Team Chairman. Their stadium in North Hempstead can accommodate 2,000 persons with a ticket price of $8 for adult and only $6 for children. The Lady Riders has dedicated itself to the Long Island soccer community for the past nine seasons as the only all girls, all Long Island soccer organization. They are forming four teams, U-14, U-15, U-16, and U-17, to compete in the USL Super Y-League as part of their commitment to the Long Island girl’s soccer community. In fact, the Lady Riders are two-times National Champions of the USL W-League, America's soccer league for women. For more information please visit: www.uslsoccer.com/teams/2005/22340.html |
