Long Island Royals
At 12, even at 13, the skaters seem like boys longing to be men. At 14, especially in helmets and pads, they seem to have gotten there. The signature sounds of hockey, the scratching of skates on ice and the clack of puck on sticks, are at a noticeably angrier pitch. The checking can be brutal and injury-causing. The language on the bench is meaner, more urgent, and more profane. The Royals are a young team by junior standards so it’s even a more impressive accomplishment. Many of their players are 1990 or 1991 birth years. No small feat for the Met league either. Out did the Empire Junior league which is usually considered the stronger league. Playing in this league is a little tougher then playing midget major (other then national tournament). The club is putting out an all hands call to all those interested in promoting hockey and to those people especially the youth in joining the Royals team enrolled in an area high school: public or private, including home schooled students. They also offer an elite hockey programs that will elevate your play to the next level. In addition to their travel teams, many Royals play for their schools, in summer leagues and on all-star teams that may be based in Buffalo or Boston or Toronto. Currently, the Long Island Royals Junior Team kicked off their pre-season at The Rock in Newark, New Jersey. But due to poor ice conditions, the Royals played only three of their scheduled four games. It was an adventure and an interesting start to the pre-season none-the-less.
