Moriches is a hamlet and census-designated place located in Suffolk County, on the South Shore of Long Island, New York. It is in the southeast section of the Town of Brookhaven. Moriches county seat is Riverhead. The neighborhood has a total area of 2.2 square miles, of which 2.0 square miles of it is land and 0.2 square miles of it is water. Moriches is bordered on the north by the hamlet of Manorville, on the east by the hamlet of Center Moriches, and on the south and west by the hamlet of Mastic. As of the 2000 census, there were 2,319 people, 1,116 households, and 669 families residing in the CDP.
