(Queens, NY) On Thursday, April 4, NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. joined NYC Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) Inspectors Nadia Bell and Rolando Ramos and their team to visit several small business owners on Maspeth’s Grand Avenue as part of “Business Education Day”. The DCA team and the senator covered Grand Avenue from 63rd to 79th Street and parts of Flushing Avenue near 64th Street, for distribution of DCA bilingual brochures (Business Owner’s Bill of Rights; 10 Things Every Business Should Know; Administrative Hearings-A Guide for Businesses) and an inspection checklist—all to teach local merchants who sell goods or services what DCA inspectors look for and to help them avoid violations (posting/refund/pricing policies; proper licensing; correct, complete receipts).
The DCA inspects tens of thousands of businesses each year to enforce consumer protection laws that ensure a fair and vibrant marketplace.

L-R: DCA team member Joseph Markiewicz, DCA Inspector Nadia Bell, with Senator Addabbo stop at a Grand Avenue florist to advise how to avoid violations during Business Education Day.
