County Executive Bellone, Legislator Gregory and the SCPD Announce Amityville Gun Buyback Event
(Hauppauge, NY) Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, Legislator DuWayne Gregory (LD 15th-Amityville) and the Suffolk County Police Department are encouraging Suffolk County residents to turn in unregistered firearms at an event to be held on Saturday, March 30th at the Prayer Tabernacle Church in Amityville. The Gun Buyback event will be held from 12 noon to 3 p.m. and will seek to reduce the number of illegal and unregistered guns in the community.
Individuals will receive $100 cash for an unregistered handgun and $300 cash for an assault weapon, no questions asked. Firearms must be unloaded and placed in a bag or box, and some limits apply.
“I am proud to work with Legislator Gregory and the Suffolk County Police Department in taking proactive steps to make our communities safer,” said County Executive Bellone. “I thank Pastor Dr. Walter C. Willie Jr of the Prayer Tabernacle Church for partnering with us to reduce the number of illegal guns on the street.”
