Importance of music in education reaffirmed by students’ visit
(Long Island, NY) Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,WF,I-Huntington Station) yesterday met with Collin Richardson of Huntington High School and Jenna Giammalvo of Half Hollow Hills High School West. The two local musicians traveled to Albany on behalf of the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) to discuss the valuable role music plays in education and encourage law makers to include funding for music education in the upcoming state budget.

“Countless studies have shown that music enhances a child’s learning and these two students were excellent representations of the outstanding musical talent we have in our community,” said Lupinacci. “Unfortunately, this year’s budget plan does not live up to our commitment to Long Island students. My colleagues and I will continue to advocate for revisions to the school aid formula that accurately reflect the importance state funds play in the education of Long Islanders. The students were a pleasure to speak with and I want to thank them for taking their time to be involved in the legislative process.”
