(Bethpage, NY) Bethpage Federal Credit Union, New York State’s largest credit union, today announces that the NCUA (National Credit Union Administration) has approved a merger for Bethpage with UFCW Local 342 Federal Credit Union. UFCW Local 342 Federal Credit Union is a union-based $5.6 million credit union with 2,071 members with one location in Mineola, NY. Effective July 1, 2012, all UFCW members gained access to Bethpage’s 26 branch network, 425 free ATMs, and extensive product and service offerings as New York State’s largest credit union.
In addition to an expanded network, the new Bethpage members will benefit from a full spectrum of offerings including commercial, residential and auto loans, home financing, title services, IRAs and other savings accounts, and free checking. Members can also obtain property and casualty insurance, homeowners and auto insurance, life, long-term care and disability insurance as well as a host of investment services through Bethpage Investment Strategies.
“This merger will allow former UFCW Local 342 Federal Credit Union members to enjoy greatly expanded convenience, value and financial services as members of the largest credit union in New York and Long Island,” said Linda Armyn, Senior Vice President, Bethpage Federal Credit Union. “Merging was an ideal fit for UFCW Local 342 Federal Credit Union which was seeking the best solution for its members to continue to offer the extraordinary value and services of a credit union, backed by the financial standing and support of Bethpage.”
New Bethpage members also gain access to mobile and online banking, as well as the convenience of Bethpage’s Shared Branching/Banking that allows members to handle basic transactions at any credit union location across that country that participates in the shared network. All Bethpage ATMs, including those in the 7-Eleven, King Kullen, Costco and CVS Pharmacies, are surcharge free to members.
Bethpage is committed to the communities its serves, and through “Heart of Bethpage” partners with non-profit organizations across Long Island to offer support and make a difference in the lives of Long Islanders. Members are often invited to participate in these programs either as a volunteer or as an applicant to receive benefits such as the annual $1,000 scholarship provided to 10 graduating high school seniors.
The UFCW Local 342 Federal Credit Union branch in Mineola will be closing when the merger is complete. All members will be directed to the Bethpage Mineola branch located at 131 Jericho Turnpike, or any of the other 25 convenient locations across Long Island.
