Stem Cell Research – What’s It All About? “Navigate Your Healthcare” Forums Return
(Stony Brook, NY) – The Ward Melville Heritage Organization continues its informative Navigate Your Healthcare series this spring, with a fascinating look into stem cell research, including the biology of stem cells and therapeutic and reproductive cloning.
“Stem Cell Research – What’s it all About?” will be held March 21 with board certified professors, Dr. Ute M. Moll and Dr. Wadie Bahou from Stony Brook University, both highly acclaimed in their fields.
Dr. Moll (pictured right) is Vice Chair, Research, Professor of Pathology, Department of Pathology at Stony Brook University and she is a published author.
Dr. Bahou (pictured left) is Professor of Medicine & Hematology and Director of the Stony Brook Stem Cell Facility Center and is published as well in many peer reviewed journals.
Discussions will include stem cell treatments and, despite clinical disagreements, their potential use in regenerative medicine. They will also explore how approved use of stem cell treatments will require long-term systematic research. Forums will be moderated by Dr. Gabriel San Roman, Reproductive Specialists of NY and take place at WMHO’s Educational & Cultural Center, 97P Main Street in the Stony Brook Village Center. Cost is $25 pp and the evening begins at 6:30 pm with a buffet dinner by Three Village Inn. “Living with Diabetes” will be second in this series and will take place on May 9.
